This is the classic Corum coin watch created from 2 genuine U.S. $20 Liberty gold coins from the U.S. Mint. The coins are cut in 2, and space for a movement carved out, with the original reeded coin edge left intact. The current example is in excellent preowned condition with the U.S. $20 gold coin dating to 1895! This example includes the correct and original blue cabachon crown for setting and winding. Corum produced these models with mechanical or quartz movements in $5.00, $10.00, and the more desirable $20.00 U.S. gold coin as offered here. This large size is of course the most desirable size and has been a classic since its introduction. These watches if produced today would be exoribantly expensive to manufacture as the coins themselves in today’s elevated gold market would cost $2500 each, and that is just for the coins.
