Cartier Vendome Tank 18K YG Automatic circa 1980’s

A stunning and scarce man’s Cartier Vendome 18K YG automatic model circa 1980’s. This is the larger size version of this model measuring 33 x 29mm with rounded case with pronounced step design. Featuring a stunning white gloss original dial with classic Cartier Roman figures, blued steel hands. Powered by a Cartier calilber 267/1 self winding movement and fitted with classic cabochon sapphire crown. Completed with Cartier 18K YG deployant buckle and black lizard strap. Both the dial and the case back are signed for Cartier Paris. This is the first we have owned of the rare automatic version of this model. We have always prized the larger manual wind version, but always sold to women, but with men wearing smaller size watches, this beauty is a candidate for either gender! A scarce and fine condition example of this striking Cartier design in the more desirable larger size. This Cartier Tank variation design dates from 1973 when Cartier introduced 12 different Tank variation models to their line, each in a men’s and lady’s size. The current example is in very fine condition, free of dings or scratches. with sharp and clear serial #s, and free of any personalized engraving. The size is suitable for either a man or a woman’s wrist. This lovely and rarely seen Cartier model was recently serviced, lightly polished, and a new mineral glass dome crystal installed.
